Cascarones: The All-Time Party Favors

[cascarones1.jpg]Eggs are a big part of celebrating Easter, whether it’s painting them, taking part in an egg hunt, or eating chocolate shaped eggs. Completing the egg theme is the tradition of surprising people by smashing a cascaron on their head! Cascarones are festive, colored, hallow eggshells, filled with confetti. Traditionally used during Easter celebrations in Mexico, cascarones are also used for other special occasions such as graduations or fiestas. It is said that having a cascaron broken on your head brings good luck. Just make sure it’s a cascaron you’re smashing on someone’s head and not a real egg (more…)
